People have very mixed views when asked the question of whether they prefer the experience of travelling or actually arriving at a destination. Modern travel is fraught with stresses and pitfalls and it is a world away from the glamorous image of travel just a couple of decades ago.
Air travel can be quite frustrating with high levels of security often entailing in long delays just to check in for your flight and clear security. Dirty and overcrowded airports means that if you choose to vol to your destination it may not be quite the experience you were hoping for.
Unless you are flying in business or first class, then long haul flights can also be pretty uncomfortable, with limited leg room and you are unlikely to be able to catch more than a couple of hours broken sleep.
And yet despite all of the obvious drawbacks of air travel, you cannot deny that an impending flight can be something quite exciting, a journey into something new, an opportunity to sample new cultures and lifestyles.
That is why many people are still drawn to air travel, not just for the convenience and relatively cheap way of getting from place to place, but rather as an experience in itself and so for many the journey is as important as the destination.
